Bengaluru,February 17, 2023:FreshBus, a Bengaluru-based EV bus startup, has raised ₹26 Crores in seed funding from ixigo to launch premium inter-city electric bus services across India. The startup will focus on offering a futuristic and eco-friendly alternative for affordable and convenient inter-city bus travel in India. FreshBus will provide a smart bus platform that offers a range of innovative services, including noise-free air-conditioned cabins, comfortable seating, real-time air-quality and temperature monitoring, personal charging docks, Wi-Fi, real-time tracking, and more.
FreshBus will begin its services in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, simultaneously launching 24 electric buses, and is expected to announce its first operational routes in March 2023. The company aims to scale up its operations to over 1000 buses across India in the next two to three years. Unlike existing inter-city bus aggregators, FreshBus will own and build the customer experience end-to-end, offering a technology-enabled smart bus operator that lets customers book and track their electric inter-city buses via the FreshBus mobile app and website.
The founder and CEO of FreshBus, Sudhakar Reddy Chirra, has over 15 years of experience in the bus domain and in managing technology-led businesses. Speaking on the new round of funding, Sudhakar emphasized that FreshBus was created to address the pain areas of inter-city bus travelers in India, such as poor customer service, lack of punctuality, unprofessional staff, and inconvenient boarding points. He said that FreshBus aims to address these issues by emphasizing quality and customer experience, making bus travel a hassle-free experience for all.
