Mumbai/New Delhi, May 31, 2023: India’s leading Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) start-up VoltUp, the first to implement stringent safety norms as laid down in the AIS by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has received the AIS156 Phase 2 certification. Speaking about achieving the new milestone, Siddharth Kabra, Co-Founder & CEO – VoltUp, said, “I am excited to announce that VoltUp has successfully implemented all AIS norms. As per the requirements set by ARAI standard AIS 156 Amendment 3, VoltUp’s new battery packs have a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV), SD cards for information storage, safety from thermal propagation, an audio-visual warning mode, 4 temperature sensors and protection against Regenerative Braking. The cells also meet BIS compliance as per IEC16893 Part 2 and Part 3.
VoltUp’s development of its own technology gives the company complete control of its entire BaaS ecosystem including a proprietary BMS and Swapping Station. The smart BMS protects against over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, short circuit as well as over & under temperature errors. VoltUp's BMS is certified for EMI/EMC as per the AIS-004 standard and the charging stations have communication boxes that communicate with the batteries over CANbus. They are also fitted with a soft-start function, earth leakage detection and, cut-offs based on temperature and voltage.
