Paris, FRANCE: May 21, 2025: Yokohama-based Japanese multinational automobile company Nissan has introduced the all-new sixth-generation Nissan Micra EV, measuring under 4 metres and boasting an impressive range of 488 kilometres.

According to auto experts, the new Micra EV is based on the Renault 5 and is classified as a fully electric supermini. It is currently available exclusively in the European market but has the potential to perform well in India if it is launched in the future.

The top-tier model has a range of up to 408 km and supports rapid charging. It comes with two battery options: a 40-kWh battery with a range of 310 kilometres and a 52-kWh battery with a range of 408 kilometres.

Equipped with a 100 kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can charge from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The Micra EV also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology and a heat pump to improve charging efficiency.

During the Micra EV launch, Nissan also unveiled its global electric vehicle strategy, announcing plans to introduce four new fully electric models by 2027 as part of an electrification initiative. These models will include the All-New MICRA, followed by the LEAF, JUKE, and an A-Segment model, as well as an upgraded third generation of Nissan’s distinctive ePOWER technology, which will be found in the popular Nissan Qashqai.

The All-New MICRA, created at Nissan’s Design Europe (NDE) in London, has a modern and distinct exterior design that combines a premium finish with a bold attitude, featuring an SUV-like silhouette, clean and simple surfaces, and refined details throughout.

Nissan’s designers described the car’s distinctive feature as resembling a “ice cream scoop.” This design element is a subtle indentation that runs from the front to the back of the back passenger door, about 1 cm wide, and resembles the shape formed when a scoop is drawn across the surface of untouched ice cream.

“In designing the sixth generation of the All-New MICRA, we celebrated all of the values that have historically made it so popular, while also ushering in a new chapter for MICRA as an electric vehicle. The exterior appears audacious and playful at first glance, but it has a stance that gives it a strong presence on the road. We’ve also been able to incorporate delightful details into the design, which the owners will appreciate,” said Giovanny Arroba, Vice President of Nissan Design Europe.

Nissan has incorporated its Japanese heritage into the Micra EV through subtle design elements, such as a moulded silhouette of Mount Fuji, Japan’s iconic landmark, which appears in the storage compartment between the front seats.

The Micra has a distinct appearance, with rounded LED daytime running lights and taillights, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior has been modernised with a 10.1-inch driver display and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. It also includes a full communication suite, including Google Assistant for music, vehicle settings, and smart home device control.

The NissanConnect app improves connectivity by allowing users to view battery status, vehicle location, charging history, and remotely control cabin temperature and charging schedules.

Regarding the driving experience, company management stated that when drivers enter the vehicle, they will notice the three-spoke steering wheel, which has a substantial, tactile diameter, as well as the 10.1-inch configurable high-resolution display for easy access to important information. The upholstery for the front and rear seats varies by trim level, providing customers with three distinct options—Modern, Audacious, and Chill—to create a premium interior environment.

Furthermore, adjustable ambient lighting allows drivers to choose from 48 different colours, allowing them to create a cabin ambience that matches their mood. The onboard experience has been designed to create a clear and distinct atmosphere based on customer preferences, with a variety of trims, lighting options, and other features available. Giovanny Arroba stated that the thoughtful selection of colours, materials, and finishes gives the cabin distinct personalities while catering to a wide range of customer tastes.

The Nissan MICRA EV has a storage capacity of 326 litres, which can be increased to 1106 litres by using the 40/60 split-folding rear seats. It provides a seamless electric driving experience, with a range of up to 408 kilometres and rapid charging capabilities.

Furthermore, the vehicle improves its performance through kinetic energy recovery via regenerative braking, with the driver able to adjust settings using paddles located behind the steering wheel. Increased regenerative braking intensity causes more pronounced deceleration. Furthermore, the MICRA incorporates Nissan’s e-Pedal system, which allows for a one-pedal driving experience, making urban driving effortless by tuning the level of regeneration. This system allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop for added convenience.

ClĂodhna Lyons, Region Vice President of Product and Services Planning at Nissan AMIEO, stated that the All-New MICRA combines captivating design with intuitive technology and an electric powertrain that offers excellent range and fast charging for a pleasant ownership experience. I am confident that it will appeal to both the rational and emotional aspects of consumers looking for a compact electric vehicle for daily use and longer trips.

The new MICRA includes Nissan ProPilot Assist, which provides lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking. Additional safety features include autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, intelligent speed assist, and a driver monitoring system, all of which contribute to a high level of reassurance for both drivers and passengers. Standard features include Blind Spot Warning Intervention, Lane Change Warning, Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
