BENGALURU. 5th July 2025: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is accelerating its efforts in India, aligning its operations with the country’s goals for sustainable growth, local manufacturing, and safer mobility. The company has revealed its long-term strategy with three major announcements in a single week, spanning from Maharashtra to the southern states.
First, TKM celebrated a 5-star safety rating for its Innova HyCross, opened a new regional office in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, and started a monsoon-ready service campaign throughout South India. These actions signal TKM’s direction and commitment to shaping the future of mobility in India, one step at a time, through establishing offices, introducing hybrid vehicles, and reaching service milestones.
The company’s recent initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach beyond just car sales. Toyota is strengthening its localisation initiatives, improving customer support, and restating its dedication to sustainability and safety.
Manufacturing Roots in Maharashtra
The opening of a 7,000-square-foot city office in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, which is a prelude to TKM's intended greenfield manufacturing facility there, was the most symbolic action. In addition to enhancing Toyota's footprint in Maharashtra, this new hub is a major step towards completing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed with the state government in 2024.
It is anticipated that this office will be essential to Toyota's localisation strategy, especially in terms of fostering the growth of regional capacity, cultivating talented individuals, and working with regional trade associations. “Looking ahead, we remain committed to bringing world-class manufacturing capabilities to the region—unlocking Marathwada’s potential by creating jobs, nurturing skilled talent, and driving inclusive, sustainable growth,” said Swapnesh Maru, Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Planning & Greenfield Projects.
Season of Service: Monsoon Campaign Goes Live
As TKM expands its operations, it continues to prioritise its customers. In South India, the company has launched its “Awesome Toyota Service Campaign,” a seasonal initiative designed to prepare vehicles for the monsoon. The campaign includes complimentary 20-point checkups, discounts on labour, monsoon-specific interior care packages, and promotions on tires and batteries, reinforcing Toyota's commitment to dependable service.
“From complimentary check-ups to special offers on services, tires, and accessories, this campaign is all about ensuring safe, smooth, and worry-free journeys,” said Wiseline Sigamani, Vice President and Chief Representative – South Region, Sales-Service-Used Car.
This initiative goes beyond preventive maintenance; it serves as a brand touchpoint, reassuring customers that Toyota is invested in their safety and peace of mind, particularly during a season known for unpredictable road conditions.
5-Star Safety Meets Hybrid Innovation
Capping off the week, TKM’s Innova HyCross, the hybrid version of India’s most trusted family MPV, received a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The certification, presented by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, places the HyCross among an elite group of vehicles that excel in both adult and child occupant protection.
Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the HyCross boasts a full suite of assistive technologies, including Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Trace Assist, as well as six airbags, Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), and ABS with EBD.
What sets the HyCross apart is its powerful hybrid self-charging technology, which offers Indian consumers looking for more environmentally friendly mobility without compromising convenience or range a workable, real-world solution. The hybrid system achieves a fuel efficiency of over 20 km/l and allows for pure electric driving during city commutes by intelligently switching between petrol and electric power.
To sum up, Toyota isn’t just along for the ride. It’s helping lay the road, new offices, one hybrid, and one service milestone at a time.
