Lucknow, April 17, 2026: Tata Motors Ltd., India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has hit a landmark milestone with the rollout of its 10 lakh commercial vehicle from the Lucknow plant—cementing over 35 years of industrial leadership in Uttar Pradesh and a legacy of driving growth, skills, and livelihoods at scale.As India’s commercial vehicle sector pivots rapidly towards cleaner, smarter mobility, this milestone reinforces Tata Motors’ leadership in shaping that transition. Notably, the milestone vehicle—a zero-emission electric bus—signals a strong push towards green mobility, aligned with Uttar Pradesh’s net-zero 2070 vision and Tata Motors’ net-zero target of 2045.
The vehicle was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons Ltd., in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., and senior government and company leadership.
Calling it a proud moment for the state, Yogi Adityanath said: “This milestone reflects Uttar Pradesh’s growing industrial strength, skilled workforce, and business-friendly ecosystem. Tata Motors’ success here reinforces our vision of driving responsible growth—creating jobs, building capabilities, and advancing sustainable development.”
Since its inception in 1992, the Lucknow facility has evolved into a key manufacturing hub, producing a wide range of trucks and buses across conventional and next-generation powertrains, including electric and fuel-cell platforms. Spread across 600 acres, the plant blends scale with sustainability supporting over 8,000 livelihoods, operating as a water-positive, 100% renewable energy-powered facility, and driving skill development through focused training initiatives.
The facility also anchors a strong supplier ecosystem, boosting MSMEs and ancillary industries across the region.
N. Chandrasekaran added: “This milestone reflects the strength of our enduring partnership with Uttar Pradesh. Together, we have built scale, capability, and opportunity. As the state accelerates its growth journey, we remain committed to shaping a future-ready, sustainable mobility ecosystem.”
