NEW DELHI: 19th August 2025: As India’s electric scooter market heats up, with Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Bajaj competing for riders, brands are looking for ways to differentiate themselves beyond battery range and price. Ampere, Greaves Electric Mobility’s EV arm, is betting on sustainability to give it a competitive advantage.
On Independence Day, the company launched its “GEM Forest” initiative, which connects every kilometre ridden by its scooters to tree plantations.
The campaign kicked off with a Heritage Ride led by Garima Avtar, an extreme rally driver and co-chair of the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who drove the company’s flagship Ampere Nexus past some of India’s most iconic landmarks. Ampere promised to plant 10 trees for every kilometre she travelled.
“Silent wheels.” Zero emissions. “Maximum freedom,” Avtar stated during the launch ride.
Ampere stated that the GEM Forest will expand in the coming months through community-focused drives and eco-initiatives as part of its efforts to align electric mobility with visible climate action.
The company aims to strengthen its reputation as a brand that delivers both performance and purpose by incorporating a reforestation pledge into its electric two-wheeler lineup.
