Auburn Hills, Michigan / India, August 7, 2026: BorgWarner has secured a major integrated drive module (iDM) program with a global automotive OEM, with production scheduled to begin in 2027. The award strengthens the company’s growing position in electrified propulsion and highlights the competitiveness of its latest-generation integrated drive module technology. “This award reflects BorgWarner’s continued commitment to delivering advanced electrified drive solutions by combining our global technology leadership with strong localized engineering and manufacturing capabilities,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President & General Manager, PowerDrive Systems. “We are pleased to support our customer with a scalable, high-performance eDrive platform that addresses evolving mobility requirements.”
The new solution features BorgWarner’s latest three-in-one coaxial integrated drive system, combining an advanced eMotor, gearbox and fully integrated GenIV inverter into a compact, high-performance package. The GenIV inverter incorporates BorgWarner’s latest Viper D power switch technology, delivering lower switching losses, higher current capability and improved overall eDrive efficiency. The system also integrates a next-generation coaxial gearbox with a compact design that enhances vehicle packaging flexibility, an oil-cooled motor engineered for demanding performance requirements, and an integrated park system designed to meet stringent global safety and regulatory standards.
Built on a lighter and more compact platform architecture, the new integrated drive module improves packaging efficiency while offering greater design flexibility. Its modular hardware and software architecture enables a highly scalable platform that can be adapted across multiple vehicle applications, reducing development complexity, shortening development timelines and optimizing overall system costs.The latest program further reinforces BorgWarner’s strategy of delivering advanced, scalable electrification technologies that combine global innovation with localized execution to support the automotive industry’s transition toward electric mobility.
