Indian Railways has partnered with Indofast Energy, a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility, to launch a network of battery swapping stations at key railway hubs across Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions. This initiative aims to promote clean mobility and support the transition to electric vehicles according to a press release. The partnership has already powered 80 swap stations across 25 railway stations, with 56 stations in Secunderabad and 24 in Hyderabad. An additional 40 stations are planned to be deployed in the next three months, giving a significant boost to the Government of India’s clean energy mission.
The swap stations will enable faster, cleaner last-mile connectivity, reducing emissions and congestion around station areas. They will also increase productivity by eliminating range anxiety and boosting productivity for ride-sharing drivers, last-mile delivery partners, and daily commuters. By offering fast, affordable, and reliable services, Indofast Energy is building a smart urban mobility ecosystem that strengthens public transit and supports the growing electric vehicle community. The strategically located swap hubs are designed for ease of use and integration into daily travel routines.
