JK Tyres, India’s leading tyre manufacturer, recently launched the ninth edition of its India Car Rally for Parliamentarians at the Constitution Club of India (CCI) in New Delhi.
The car rally aimed to raise awareness about the alarming rise in road accidents and fatalities, emphasizing the critical need to increase public awareness about road safety in the country. This initiative, launched by the Constitution Club of India in collaboration with JK Tyre, sought to promote a campaign aimed at saving lives while also benefiting the nation economically.
During the rally, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, expressed concern about the rising number of road accidents. He emphasized that events like this rally are critical for raising awareness and promoting road safety, both among parliamentarians and the general public.
The rally’s main theme was “Road Safety.” This event also commemorated the loss of notable figures in India due to road accidents, including former President Shri Giani Zail Singh, Union Ministers Shri Rajesh Pilot, Shri Sahib Singh Verma, Shri Yerrannaidu, and others such as MPs Shri S.P. Muthukumaran, Shri Shrikant Jichkar, Shri Mahendra Singh Bhati, Shri Dayanand Sahay, Shri Gopinath Munde, and Shri Nandamuri Harikrishna.

For more than thirty years, JK Tyre has been dedicated to improving road safety and promoting responsible driving behavior through awareness campaigns and innovative products.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Secretary of the CCI, expressed his concern about road accidents. The Ministry has implemented a comprehensive strategy to improve automobile safety standards, upgrade road infrastructure, and launch significant initiatives in line with the vision of our esteemed Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and the Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari.
Excessive speeding, mobile phone use, riding without helmets, driving without seat belts, and entering highways at unauthorized locations are all common causes of these accidents, as are road and pedestrian crossing issues.
The JK Tyre-CCI Rally was meticulously planned to travel through the capital’s well-known landmarks while emphasizing the critical message of road safety. Participants used a TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) format that prioritizes accuracy over speed to encourage responsible driving. Each team consisted of a driver and a navigator, with the navigator responsible for following route directions, calculating average speeds, and keeping the team on track, as any deviations would result in penalty points. The rally, which followed FMSCI regulations, tested participants’ navigational skills while ensuring compliance with traffic laws, with designated times and speeds kept within legal limits.
This significant road safety initiative was supported by JK Tyre, IOCL, GAIL, Union Bank of India, Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Petronet LNG Limited, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, NBCC, BPCL, and the Airports Authority of India.
