New Delhi, September 26, 2024: The SIAM Automotive HR Conclave, themed "Shifting Gears: HR Strategies for a Disruptive Automotive Landscape,"brought together a wide range of stakeholders to address the future of human capital in the automotive sector amidst growing disruptions. Organized by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the conclave focused on HR strategies that will align with India's long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and drive the growth of the industry.

Key Highlights:
  1. Unveiling of Reports:
    • The 'SIAM Handbook for Service Advisers and Service Technicians' was launched in collaboration with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), emphasizing the need for upskilling service personnel.
    • 'Automotive Talent in Top Gear – Industry Report on HR Trends in the Automotive Sector', developed with Deloitte India, provided insights into emerging trends and strategies for addressing talent challenges in the automotive industry.
  2. Focus on Human Capital:
    • Mr. Charles JS Walter, Chairman of SIAM Human Capital Group and AVP of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., emphasized that disruption is now integral to the automotive industry's success. The focus is on embracing change and ensuring HR strategies are aligned with these disruptions.
    • Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, Immediate Past President of SIAM and Managing Director of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd., highlighted the significant role of the automotive industry in India’s economy, contributing 15% to the country's GST and having a turnover of ₹20 lakh crore. He stressed that innovation and employee care are critical to sustaining this growth.
  3. Key Sessions and Discussions:
    • "Fueling Innovation – Building Talent Capability in the Automotive Industry": The session discussed fostering innovation through talent development and capability building.
    • "Belonging in the Automotive Industry – Fostering a Culture of Diversity & Inclusion": This session addressed the growing importance of creating inclusive work environments.
    • "Beyond the Wheel – Skilling Up for the Future of Automotive": It focused on upskilling the workforce to meet future technological and sustainability demands.
  4. Notable Panelists: Esteemed HR leaders and government officials participated in the event, including:
    • Mr. Raja Radhakrishnan, President - HR, Ashok Leyland Ltd.
    • Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Vice President - HR, Bajaj Auto Ltd.
    • Mr. Rohit Thakur, CHRO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
    • Ms. Amrita Ganguly, Chief Diversity Officer, Tata Motors Ltd.
    • Mr. Sushil Kumar Agarwal, Joint Director, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
