New Delhi, February 19, 2026: The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) concluded its four-day Sustainability Week 2026 with the 1st International Conference on Automotive Material Compliance & Sustainability (AMCS) at India Habitat Centre. Held under the theme “Driving Circularity, Compliance, and Innovation in the Global Automotive Supply Chain”, the conference underscored India’s push toward sustainable materials, end-of-life vehicle (ELV) management, and transparent, digital supply chains.
The opening session reaffirmed SIAM’s commitment to a circular and future-ready automotive ecosystem. Addressing industry and policymakers, SIAM Executive Director Mr. Prashant K. Banerjee highlighted India’s progress in sustainable mobility through global safety standards, material stewardship, and implementation of the ELV Rules, 2025. The conference also saw the release of SIAM’s Context Paper on Strengthening Automotive Material Compliance Across the Vehicle Value Chain.
Key speakers emphasized lifecycle circularity, measurable carbon-reduction targets, and design-stage material choices supported by registered vehicle scrapping facilities. Industry leaders highlighted policy drivers such as EPR mandates, CAFE norms, and vehicle scrappage, alongside clean technologies including EVs, flex fuels, green logistics, and hydrogen.
Global experts showcased the rapid adoption of digital tools like IMDS in India, reflecting growing ESG alignment and supply-chain transparency, while discussions on platforms such as Catena-X highlighted India’s emerging role in shaping globally interoperable automotive data ecosystems.
Three technical sessions covered:
Global ELV policy and regulatory frameworks, including evolving chemical compliance norms.
Digital transformation in material compliance, focusing on IMDS implementation and next-generation data exchange.
Product compliance challenges, with perspectives from OEMs, component manufacturers, and allied industries.
The conference marked a strong close to Sustainability Week 2026, reinforcing SIAM’s long-standing collaboration with government and industry to advance cleaner technologies and responsible manufacturing—aligned with its mission of Building the Nation Responsibly and supporting India’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
