While posting its highest-ever fiscal sales of 18,928 units in FY 24-25, Mercedes India, the German luxury carmaker, reached another milestone with 51% BEV growth and 7% total sales penetration.
In Q1 25, the luxury car manufacturer achieved 8% penetration, demonstrating the growing trend of BEV acceptance.
The company has received a strong response to the EQS SUV, Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling BEV.
Mercedes India sold 4775 units in the first quarter of 2025, and the trend continues. Mercedes-Benz’s top-end luxury and BEV portfolios continue to see strong demand, with the S-Class in particular receiving an overwhelming response, as well as the Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, the G 580 with EQ Technology, and the EQS SUV.
This company moving forward has outlined its presence in key emerging markets planned, with new sales and service facilities in Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Jammu in Q2 2025.
Speaking about growth plans, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, stated that the company will continue to upgrade and expand its major network. “We have outlined an investment of Rs 450 crores from franchise partners, aimed at enhancing the brand’s footprint in emerging and established metropolises, offering the latest global luxury standards in retail as a fundamentally strong brand.”
The Pune-based automaker intends to expand its sales network in the country, with 20 new luxury outlets planned for 2025. According to Iyer, the company currently operates in 125 locations across 50 cities.
Commenting on the luxury car market in India, he stated, “We are confident of the Indian market’s mid to long-term prospects, pursuing a value-oriented sales approach aimed at customer delight and business sustainability.”
More than one out of every four cars sold by Mercedes-Benz India in FY 24-25 and Q1 25 was a “top-end luxury vehicle.”
In FY 24-25 and Q1 25, more than one in every four vehicles sold by Mercedes-Benz India were ‘Top-End Luxury’ models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG G 63.
