Montra Electric, the flagship company of the TI Group, has announced its 5-lakh sq ft new E-SCV facility in Ponneri, about 30 km from Chennai. The company, which has its presence in e-auto and e-tractor trailers and small commercial vehicles (SCVs), plans to have an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles.
Senior company officials are upbeat about the plant and said the new facility is set to play a crucial role in accelerating the adoption of electric commercial vehicles and strengthening the country’s EV ecosystem.
Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Limited (TII), expressed pride in launching the first dedicated e-SCV plant in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing their commitment to innovative and sustainable clean mobility solutions. He noted that Montra Electric has been at the forefront of India’s electric vehicle evolution, and this facility marks a significant milestone in their journey. Looking ahead, he reaffirmed their dedication to contributing to India’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070.
The newly opened plant will primarily produce the EVIATOR, which features an industry-leading certified range of 245 kilometers and a real-world range of 170 kilometers. It also boasts the highest power output in its category at 80 kW, along with an impressive torque of 300 Nm.

The EVIATOR claims to have an industry-leading certified range of 245 km and a real-life range of 170 km. It boasts the highest power output in its category at 80 kW and an impressive torque of 300 Nm. The company has provided an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh kilometers, ensuring reliability and longevity. EVIATOR is further equipped with advanced telematics, delivering over 95% fleet uptime, making it a game-changer in the small commercial vehicle space.
