Gandhinagar, July 15, 2026: SWITCH Mobility Ltd., a global manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles and part of the Hinduja Group, has unveiled its all-new SWITCH EiV9 electric bus at Prawaas 5.0, India’s premier multimodal transport exhibition. Designed for city transit, employee transportation and school mobility, the next-generation 9-metre electric bus combines advanced technology, superior passenger comfort and operational efficiency, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. The new EiV9 has been purpose-built to help fleet operators transition seamlessly to electric mobility by delivering lower operating costs, higher efficiency and an enhanced passenger experience. By focusing on total cost of ownership and operational reliability, SWITCH Mobility aims to make electric transportation both commercially viable and environmentally sustainable.
Commenting on the launch, Ganesh Mani, CEO, SWITCH Mobility, said, “The launch of the all-new SWITCH EiV9 marks an important milestone in our growth journey as we strengthen our presence across key public and institutional mobility segments. The 9-metre electric bus market is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 34% by FY30, driven by rising demand for sustainable transportation solutions. The EiV9 has been engineered to deliver what operators value most—higher efficiency, superior passenger comfort, advanced safety and lower operating costs.” He added, “At SWITCH Mobility, we believe the transition to cleaner transportation will be driven by practical solutions that make both environmental and economic sense. This philosophy is reflected in our new #SwitchKaro campaign, which encourages businesses and fleet operators to adopt smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions.”
The SWITCH EiV9 features a lightweight architecture and advanced electric driveline technology designed to maximise energy efficiency and reduce running costs. The bus offers multiple battery pack options, enabling operators to configure the vehicle according to specific route requirements and duty cycles. Regenerative braking and dual-gun CCS2 fast-charging capability further enhance uptime and operational flexibility. Powering the EiV9 is a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance (PMVR) motor delivering up to 213 kW of peak power, ensuring smooth acceleration, reliable performance and superior drivability across varied operating conditions.
The EiV9 has been developed with a strong emphasis on passenger comfort. A spacious cabin, full front and rear air suspension, ergonomic seating layouts and individual USB charging points provide a comfortable and convenient travel experience. For employee transportation applications, the bus also offers pushback seating options for enhanced comfort during longer journeys. Safety remains a key focus, with the EiV9 equipped with a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS), disc brakes on both front and rear axles and a robust electric architecture engineered for dependable operations across diverse environments.
Alongside the launch of the EiV9, SWITCH Mobility unveiled its new #SwitchKaro campaign, aimed at encouraging businesses, fleet owners and transport operators to accelerate the shift towards cleaner mobility solutions. The campaign highlights the business and environmental benefits of electric mobility, including lower operating and maintenance costs, improved profitability and zero tailpipe emissions. Through #SwitchKaro, SWITCH Mobility seeks to inspire customers to make smarter transportation choices that create value for their businesses while contributing to cleaner cities and a more sustainable future.
