Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, March 6, 2026: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has successfully upgraded Government ITI Deogiri in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra to strengthen the state’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) ecosystem. As part of this initiative, the company has also supported the upgradation of 16 additional Government ITIs across the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions. The initiative aims to empower rural youth by equipping them with industry-relevant, world-class technical skills, enabling them to become highly competent technicians and contribute meaningfully to India’s growing industrial and manufacturing sectors. By integrating global best practices with vocational education, the program seeks to bridge skill gaps and enhance employment opportunities for students across the region.
The roadmap for the initiative in Maharashtra is structured around three key pillars. The first pillar focuses on faculty development, which includes comprehensive Train-the-Trainer (T3) programs, knowledge enhancement sessions, and skill-building workshops conducted at Toyota’s Bidadi facility. These programs are designed to strengthen the capabilities of instructors, ensuring that they are equipped with the latest industry knowledge and modern teaching methodologies. The second pillar centers on upgrading laboratory infrastructure, workshop facilities, and training materials. Under this component, industry-relevant equipment such as Fundamental Skill Training (FST) kits, dexterity modules, visual learning boards, and other standardized training tools will be introduced to create a practical and industry-aligned learning environment. The third pillar emphasizes culture transformation, which aims to instill discipline, ethics, and professional values among students. This includes the introduction of body-and-mind development routines, daily discipline exercises, classroom ethics practices, and the adoption of Toyota’s globally recognized 5S principles, environmental awareness initiatives, and strict safety protocols. Beyond technical expertise, the program also focuses on nurturing qualities such as humility, gratitude, responsibility, and a service-oriented mindset, preparing students to become responsible professionals and valued contributors to society.

This initiative complements the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, bringing global manufacturing expertise to strengthen vocational education and prepare youth for future industry demands. Phase 1 (2025–26) covers 17 ITIs across the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions and has already been completed. Phase 2 (2026–28) will expand the program to ITIs in the Amravati and Nashik divisions, while Phase 3 (2029–30) will extend the initiative to institutes located in the Mumbai and Pune divisions. Through this phased expansion, the program aims to create a scalable and sustainable skilling model that can be replicated across the state’s vocational education network.
Under this partnership, Government ITI Deogiri has been developed as a demonstration model showcasing how a structured and industry-aligned skilling framework can be implemented effectively within the ITI system. The initiative forms part of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s broader commitment to support the development of 45 ITIs across all 36 districts of Maharashtra by 2030, thereby strengthening the state’s skilling ecosystem and ensuring that students receive training that meets modern industry standards.
From the current academic year onwards, the institute will also introduce training in both manufacturing and service skill sets, providing students with broader career pathways and aligning their capabilities with the evolving requirements of the automotive and manufacturing industries. By offering a combination of technical expertise, practical training, and value-based education, the program aims to enhance employability and prepare students for a wide range of roles within the industry.
