In just six months since its launch, the Windsor EV, India’s first intelligent crossover utility vehicle (CUV), has achieved impressive wholesale sales of 20,000 units, making it the country’s fastest-selling electric vehicle (EV), with strong performance in both metropolitan and emerging markets.
The MG Windsor,, powered by Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), has a price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh and an energy cost of Rs 3.9 per kilometer. It combines features of sedans and SUVs and is powered by a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery that generates 100 kW (136 ps) of power and 200 Nm of torque.
According to Rakesh Sen, Director of Sales and Marketing at JSW MG Motor India, the Windsor EV, which has an ARAI-certified range of 332 kilometers on a single charge, has effectively addressed several concerns about electric vehicles, encouraging more consumers to embrace electric mobility.
The Windsor features MG’s distinct ‘AeroGlide’ design language. Inside, it has reclining seats that can tilt up to 135 degrees and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen for better user interaction.
JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture formed in 2023 by SAIC Motor, a global Fortune 500 company with operations in over 100 countries, and the JSW Group, a prominent Indian conglomerate active in both the B2B and B2C sectors. This collaboration aims to establish a localized and technologically advanced automotive ecosystem in India, with a focus on manufacturing and product development.
MG’s manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat, can produce over 100,000 vehicles per year and employs around 6,000 people. The company has launched several models in India, including the Hector, ZS EV, Gloster, Astor, Comet, and the most recent addition, the Windsor.
