National, July 31, 2025: BorgWarner secured a contract to supply dual inverters to a leading Chinese automaker for their next generation of hybrid vehicles in China’s rapidly expanding new energy vehicle (NEV) market. The project, which builds on an earlier collaboration in 2021, is scheduled to begin mass production by the end of 2025.

The dual inverter, which enables synchronous control of two motors via a single controller, has been designed for greater packaging flexibility and installation simplicity. BorgWarner claims that its proprietary module packaging technology reduces weight and cost, while a new cooling design lowers thermal resistance by up to 50%, increasing power density.
The company is also improving the technology for future applications. The third-generation inverter features a high-performance single chip for DC-DC conversion and dual motor control. The fourth-generation model includes an integrated boost converter and optional DC-DC module for hybrid platforms.
The deal highlights BorgWarner’s growing presence in China’s electrified vehicle market, where stringent efficiency standards like the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) are driving automakers to adopt advanced power electronics.
