MUMBAI, August 3, 2025: Tesla Inc. will open its first Supercharger in India on August 4, marking a significant entry into the country’s emerging electric vehicle (EV) market. The flagship location will be in Mumbai’s One BKC business district.
The charging station will have four V4 Supercharging stalls with a peak charging capacity of 250 kW at a rate of ₹24 per kWh. There will be four 11 kW destination chargers priced at ₹14/kWh. This station is a significant milestone for the United States automaker. Tesla claims that its Model Y can gain up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes at the Supercharger, which is enough for a week’s worth of city driving or multiple airport trips.

The Mumbai hub is the first of eight planned Supercharger stations as Tesla expands in India to facilitate long-distance EV travel via its global fast-charging infrastructure. Tesla claims that its network has a 99.95% uptime, allowing vehicles to precondition their batteries for faster charging times. Charging will be integrated into the Tesla app, enabling contactless payments and real-time monitoring.
Along with the charging station, Tesla has launched its nationwide online Design Studio, which allows customers to configure and order vehicles. The Model Y, priced at ₹59.89 lakh, is now available for booking, with priority deliveries scheduled for Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram in the third quarter. Each customer will also get a free home wall connector.
“This launch represents a significant step in bringing Tesla’s charging ecosystem to India, providing customers with a convenient, fast, and reliable experience,” a top company official stated, describing the move as the start of a larger initiative to energise India’s evolving EV market.
