New Delhi, June 22, 2026: Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania, Director of JK Organisation and Chairman & Managing Director of JK Paper Ltd., has been elected Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Paris, becoming one of the few Indian business leaders to lead the world’s largest business organization in its century-long history. His appointment comes at a significant time when India is emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and an increasingly influential voice of the Global South. With decades of leadership experience across industry and global business platforms, Mr. Singhania is set to guide ICC through a period of rapid economic, technological and geopolitical transformation.
Addressing ICC National Committees after assuming office, Mr. Singhania said, “It is a great honour to serve as Chair of the ICC. At a time when the global economy is undergoing profound change, the role of trusted institutions has never been more important. Businesses need practical solutions, stronger collaboration and a unified voice to help build a more open, resilient and prosperous global economy.” He also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing ICC Chair Philippe Varin and ICC Secretary General John Denton for their leadership and commitment to strengthening international trade and business cooperation.
As Chairman, Mr. Singhania has outlined three key priorities: rebuilding trust in global commerce, shaping frameworks for the new economy—including digital trade, artificial intelligence and sustainability—and strengthening the voice of business in major multilateral forums. Building on ICC’s globally recognized trade and business frameworks, including Incoterms, UCP, ATA Carnet and international dispute resolution mechanisms, he aims to enhance confidence in global trade and promote greater participation from businesses of all sizes. Supporting this vision is the ICC Compact for Trade, Jobs and Growth, a business-led initiative focused on expanding global trade opportunities, increasing regional representation and empowering small and medium enterprises.
Mr. Singhania also emphasized the importance of digital transformation in trade through initiatives such as One Click, the Digital Standards Initiative and AI-enabled trade services, aimed at making cross-border commerce more accessible and efficient. During his tenure, he will focus on strengthening ICC’s engagement with global policymaking platforms including the United Nations, World Trade Organization (WTO), G20, G7 and BRICS, while expanding practical trade tools, digital services and standards across ICC’s extensive network of over 90 National Committees representing more than 45 million companies in over 170 countries. His appointment reinforces India’s growing influence in shaping global economic dialogue and highlights the country’s increasing role in driving the future of international trade and business cooperation.
