Mumbai, June 24, 2026: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has secured over 3,400 electric commercial vehicle (eCV) orders across freight, logistics and passenger mobility segments, reinforcing its leadership in the country’s rapidly expanding zero-emission transportation market. The orders comprise approximately 2,000 electric small commercial vehicles and pick-ups, 900 electric trucks, and 500 electric buses, spanning a wide range of applications including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG and consumer goods distribution, urban mobility, as well as demanding sectors such as cement, steel, mining and airport tarmac operations. The deployments also extend across both inter-city and intra-city passenger transportation.
The strong order momentum reflects growing customer confidence in electric commercial mobility and signals a decisive shift from pilot projects to large-scale operational deployment of EVs across industries. It also highlights the increasing viability of electric vehicles in real-world commercial applications.Tata Motors continues to drive this transition with the industry’s broadest portfolio of electric commercial vehicles, supported by a comprehensive ecosystem covering charging infrastructure, financing, fleet management and after-sales support. Over the past year, Tata Motors has significantly expanded its eCV portfolio. In the small commercial vehicle segment, models such as the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV are enabling sustainable last-mile and intra-city deliveries. The company has also strengthened its presence in medium and heavy commercial vehicles through the Ultra EV range (7-12 tonne), along with the Prima EV 55T tractor and Prima EV 28T tipper, catering to demanding freight operations. In passenger mobility, the Starbus EV and Ultra EV buses continue to support urban and inter-city transport requirements.Tata Motors’ electric mobility journey is backed by substantial operational experience. The company currently has over 3,800 electric buses operating across multiple cities, collectively covering more than 55 crore kilometres, while over 17,000 Tata electric small commercial vehicles are deployed nationwide, demonstrating the reliability and readiness of electric mobility solutions across diverse operating conditions.
