VITHALPUR near Ahmedabad, 22nd May 2025: Minoru Kato, President and CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) has announced that the company intends to launch a new electric two-wheeler on a global scale each year.
Kato of Honda two-wheelers made the statement in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel, who was present for the 500 millionth two-wheeled motor vehicle's rollout at the company's Vitthalapur plant near Ahmedabad, one of HMSI's largest scooter-exclusive facilities globally.
According to company sources, HMSI plans to invest more than 900 crores in this facility, which will serve as the fourth production line at its Vitthalapur plant in Gujarat.
Honda officials announced that a new production facility with an installed capacity of 650,000 two-wheelers per year will begin operations in FY 27, bringing the plant's total installed capacity to 2.61 million vehicles.
Honda has built 500 million motorcycles in 76 years, beginning with the mass production of the Dream D-Type in 1949.
Reflecting on this global achievement, company representatives stated, "Every day and year, somewhere in the world, there is someone who values Honda and is writing a new story with Honda motorcycles.
