India, November 10, 2025: In less than two weeks, BorgWarner has announced four significant global contracts in the mobility sector – with Great Wall Motor, Chery, Stellantis, and HOLON (BENTELER Group). These announcements reflect the American supplier’s accelerating momentum in electrification, advanced driveline systems, and high-efficiency propulsion technologies.
From dual inverters and all-wheel-drive systems to next-gen turbochargers and battery packs for autonomous shuttles, these wins showcase the strength of BorgWarner’s global engineering and its growing contribution from India to future-ready mobility.
Ranging from powering autonomous shuttles to supporting hybrid SUVs and next-generation turbocharged engines, these recent wins underscore BorgWarner’s growing significance across various vehicle architectures and markets.
Expanding Collaboration with Great Wall Motor, China
BorgWarner has secured two additional dual inverter projects with Great Wall Motor, extending an existing collaboration into mass production by 2026.
“BorgWarner’s technical expertise in electrification and dual inverter products has earned the continued confidence of Great Wall Motor,” said Dr. Stefan Demmerle, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager of PowerDrive Systems. “This extension not only reflects recognition of our products and technologies but also underscores our strong commitment to supporting our customers’ new energy strategies. We are dedicated to accelerating their electrified vehicle portfolio.”
The dual inverter system synchronously controls two motors through a single controller, enhancing flexibility and efficiency for hybrid and plug-in hybrid applications.
Strengthening All-Wheel Drive Capability with Chery
Shortly before, BorgWarner announced new mandates with Chery to supply its torque-on-demand (Mlock TOD) transfer case and Gen VI Cross Wheel Drive (XWD) system for upcoming pickups and SUVs, with production set to begin in 2027.
“This collaboration leverages BorgWarner’s extensive product portfolio and technical expertise to support Chery’s growth in both China and global markets,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager of Drivetrain and Morse Systems.
The systems provide improved traction and vehicle dynamics through integrated control units and modular driveline technology.
Battery Systems for HOLON’s Autonomous Shuttle
In late October, BorgWarner announced it will supply battery systems for HOLON’s Level 4 autonomous shuttle, marking its first contract for battery technology in autonomous vehicles in North America. Production is slated for 2027.
“BorgWarner has extensive experience with smart and integrated battery management systems and excels in energy density, scalability, and robust safety certifications — all key components for this exciting new application,” said Henk Vanthournout, Vice President and President and General Manager of Battery and Charging Systems.
HOLON’s Flavio Friesen, VP of Engineering, added, “BorgWarner is an excellent fit for HOLON. Their battery platform combines exceptional energy density with robust safety, cybersecurity, and serviceability. The modular, liquid-cooled two-pack system integrates perfectly with our shuttle’s design and uptime requirements, supporting not just our North American rollout but also the demands in Europe and the Middle East.”
Next-Generation Turbocharging for Stellantis
Wrapping up the two weeks, BorgWarner announced it will supply variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers for Stellantis’s new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine, set to debut in the 2026 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, along with its electric variable cam timing (eVCT) system.
“We are pleased to partner with Stellantis on these exciting project launches,” said Dr. Volker Weng, Vice President and President and General Manager of Turbos and Thermal Technologies. “Our long-standing relationship includes supplying the OEM with several turbos for previous vehicle models, and this specific project marks our entry into the next generation of turbocharging.”
Expanding a Global Technology Footprint
With new business wins across China, Europe, and North America, BorgWarner’s recent success demonstrates its transformation into a multi-architecture mobility technology leader. The four contracts illustrate how the company is bridging traditional propulsion with electrified innovation — a balance that continues to drive its growth amid the industry’s shift toward sustainable mobility.
