Delta, a global provider of power and thermal management solutions, announced it has cumulatively supplied over 6,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers to customers in India to encourage the country’s e-mobility transition.
The close cooperation between Delta and major stakeholders in the EV charging infrastructure sector, which includes major charge point operators, such as TATA Power, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (BESCOM), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), as well as various OEMs, has made this breakthrough possible.
Delta offers a one-stop solution in enabling EV charging infrastructure, from site inspection to design the requirements, installation and aftersales service. Furthermore, Delta is also one of the first providers of fully-integrated EV charging solutions in India with solar PV inverters, energy storage systems and energy management software to a Bangalore utility company. In keeping with the “Make In India” national development drive, Delta is strengthening its R&D and manufacturing capabilities in India, with more than 50 percent content of its product offering in the country, currently manufactured locally.
Delta India now offers a comprehensive selection of EV chargers for 4-wheeler and e-bus applications for the Indian market. The wall-mounted DC Wallbox EV Charger is a one-of-a-kind, fast-charging device with a tiny footprint, making it perfect for commercial applications such as public parking lots, office buildings, fleets, hotels, and retail malls. Delta offers both single and multiple charging gun versions that are compatible with all electric 4-wheelers on the market today.
Benjamin Lin, president and general manager of Delta Electronics India, stated, "Delta aims to develop the foundations of sustainable cities, including eco-friendly and healthy buildings, green energy infrastructure, smart factories, and eco-friendly ICT infrastructure, as well as e-mobility, in accordance with its corporate mission, 'To provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow."
According to him, Delta India's R&D and engineering teams are developing more and more indigenous solutions, such as battery swapping systems for electric scooters and rapid EV chargers, in response to government measures to strengthen the local manufacturing industry. "Within a few years, we plan to grow the regional content of our products and services to 80 percent," he added.
